windshield glass
The main reason windshield glass is different is because of its unique construction. The sandwiched layer of PVB or polyvinyl butaryl inside layers of outer safety glass make it special. This construction of autoglass helps people inside the vehicle be protected from accidents and injuries. Even if the windshield glass were to break, it would break into small pebble-like pieces. These do not fly off and do not break into large shards of glass. Most injuries due to vehicle accidents happen because of flying pieces of glass. These cause insurmountable damage to the people inside. By using windshield glass in your vehicle, you protect yourself from injury even if there is an accident.
How it works to protect Windshield glass has a unique construction, which makes it conducive to absorb deep impact hits. Therefore, whether it is a stone, which has hit the autoglass or some other heavier object, this windshield glass has the property to absorb the impact. When an object hits against the glass, it first touches the brittle glass on the outside. However, inside there is a very strong coating of PVB, which holds the glass together. This material has the ability to stretch as well but still the windshield glass fails to fly off. Even in very heavy and deep impacts, the autoglass remains stuck to the PVB. This way, the glass cannot fly off and helps prevent any injuries.
How to repair it Even if your vehicle has not undergone such a deep impact as in an accident, it may get cracks and cuts on the windshield glass from time to time. A bird could have hit it or a stone or some other object. A windshield glass can be very expensive. Hence, if a damage occurs on the glass, it can be very disheartening. If you wish to repair it there is a very simple way. Simply take an injection and fill it with the resin substance. Then inject it into the glass. The resin will easily penetrate the glass but will stop at the PVB layer. Most often, when a crack happens in the windshield glass you will notice a darker patch there. This is because of air. However, air has the unique property of being able to contract and expand. Hence, by injecting the space with the resin, you can siphon off the air and instead leave the resin behind. This resin will quickly fill up whatever damage has happened inside the windshield glass leaving it as good as new!
Tips for installation It is very easy to install windshield glass. First, start by removing the old windshield glass with a sharp knife. You may also need to use a saw to get at all the butaryl film inside. You then need to scrape out the remaining butaryl in the frame. Roll out the fresh film of butyl. Then you can place the new glass. The presence of rubber blocks will help keep the new windshield glass in correct position. Once the glass is placed, reinstall the mouldings around.
